What is your Quality policy?

Thanks to extensive experience in responding to the requirements imposed by the pharmaceutical market (GMP etc), at Palladio Zannini quality is considered a real “commitment”, as well as sustainable development is considered a “mission”, as demonstrated by the certifications obtained in both fields (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, FSC, PEFC). The quality system adopted by the company provides continuous and strict checks at every stage of the work cycle: all production lots have complete documentation and check-list, with full traceability at each stage of the life cycle, from incoming raw materials to outgoing finished product. In our sector production quality is closely linked to that of raw materials, as it is clearly visible in the finished product, and it often happens that the end customer validates only some specific materials. Therefore our carefully selected suppliers, with whom we aim at establishing solid and long-lasting relationships as well as with our customers, play a vital role by providing high quality products with flexible and punctual service.

What resources do you have and where are they located?

We currently have three production areas in Italy (two in Veneto and one in Tuscany) one in Ireland and one in Serbia. Over 400 people work there and total annual output is about 1 billion and 500 million cartons, 800 million leaflets and 600 million self-adhesive labels, with a turnover exceeding 61 million Euros per year. We are expanding our production capacity in Eastern Europe, in particular in our factory in Serbia, which will double its output by 2014.

With an innovative approach we have also installed, first in Europe in this area, a “lean line”, an alternative to digital printing, for the production of micro-lots of cartons. We can thus meet various needs with great flexibility and versatility, such as: production of micro-lots for new products (from 500 to 3,000 pieces), approach to new markets with scarcely reliable forecast, reduction of lead time, unvaried quality level of printed material, price competitiveness. Another recent and important investment is the production line for booklets at Pontedera factory, operating since January 2013.

This choice is part of a strategy of production differentiation related to the development of the leaflet sector. The introduction into new markets and increasing information to be reported to patients has directed some pharmaceutical companies towards the use of a booklet similar to a small “operation manual”. Palladio Zannini therefore aims at meeting this need, offering itself also in other areas such as medical diagnosis, in which the use of the booklet is an essential component of product packaging.
