Which competitive benefits could a company gain by introducing this new solution before 2016?
One clear benefit is that you can collect experience. This is extremely important, because you have no time for testing if you wait until 2016. At the beginning, you need support from your supplier and you can imagine what happens if all companies required this support by 2016! For Contract Manufacturing Organizations it is also important, because many customers ask if you as a supplier have a strategy in place to meet the requirements. At Aesica, we have put a pilot line in place through which we can collect experience and transfer this on other lines and customers.
Finally, how do you choose the best partner to implement the new anti- counterfeiting packaging?
As I have mentioned, there are three essential pillars to an anti-counterfeiting strategy: Product integrity, Product Authentication and Product Identification. Mostly you have different suppliers. For the first two areas you contact your packaging material supplier. Many suppliers have solutions already in place. The third area is more difficult. As I described there defined standard, every country has different systems in place. There you have to find a partner that has a high knowledge and can provide a future-proof system.
